Trust in the media has fallen to a dangerously low level !

Trust in the media has fallen to a dangerously low level, and news organisations have still only just begun to think about what corporate responsibility means for them.

A reputation mirrored in scandal:

Recent scandals, such as the “Meera’s” case on air – in which two humans and media are profiting from their personal lives – have created the impression of a self-serving media that fails to uphold ethical standards. The media is accused of hypocrisy (revealing others’ mistakes while failing to illuminate their own); of lacking accountability; and of “dumbing-down”, including the failure to report the things that matter!!

  2. propaganda in the media leads us to believe what the 'fat cats' want us to believe. examples of the war on terror! and the "collapse" of the world trade center is a tool of misgiuding us sheep astray! dont believe everything u see in the media....

  3. its not ethical to give hype to such scandals. media is also held accountable to bring such lame issues in the limelight and earn money.... but there are few people who can do anything or say anythng infront of media to gain popularity.

  4. The media dominates our lives. We give more time to viewing, surfing, listening and reading than we do to our families and friends. It's a relationship that's built on trust - and it's a relationship currently in crisis.TV's fake phone-ins, phoney footage from royal reality shows, reporters resorting to phone-bugging to get stories - is there anything left in the media we can believe?

  5. Mass Media Influence
In the last 50 years the media influence has grown exponentially with the advance of technology, first there was the telegraph, then the radio, the newspaper, magazines, television and now the internet.

We live in a society that depends on information and communication to keep moving in the right direction and do our daily activities like work, entertainment, health care, education, personal relationships, traveling and anything else that we have to do.

A common person in the city usually wakes up checks the tv news or newspaper, goes to work, makes a few phone calls, eats with their family when possible and makes his decisions based on the information that he has either from their co workers, news, tv, friends, family, financial reports, etc.

What we need to be aware is that most of our decisions, beliefs and values are based on what we know for a fact, our assumptions and our own experience. In our work we usually know what we have to do based on our experience and studies, however on our daily lives we rely on the media to get the current news and facts about what is important and what we should be aware of.

We have put our trust on the media as an authority to give us news, entertainment and education. However, the influence of mass media on our kids, teenagers and society is so big that we should know how it really works.

  6. well this is true nowadays we are relying much on media and when we ponder in depth we come to know that whatevera media is telling, most of it is totally 4 attention seeking purpose so that particular channel gets hit and it can make money out of selling wrong news.

  7. Even if the original incident is true, the media very often adds bits and pieces to it to make the "cover story" appealing to the audience.

  9. No doubt that trust in media has decreased because many TV channels have been launched are they are in competition with each other. Their reports sometimes conflict with each other. one is confused which one to believe.. and the most cool channel according to me is PTV.. no matter pakistan is suffering from loose motion or a city's security is at stake, PTV remains calm and at that moment tries to normalize its citizens by playing Munni Begam songs ...

If some body switches on GEO, than one feels he is the most dumb person on this planet that hez still staying in Pakistan...

media is broadcasting misleading headlines and twisted quotes which have become a norm nowadays. Mistakes go uncorrected; apologies are not made (except as a result of legal action).

  12. Both advertising and entertainment media make heavy use of stereotypes. Stereotypes may negatively affect people's perceptions of themselves or promote socially undesirable behaviour.
